This is a place where I can put thoughts down and encourage others to comment on my ideas, observations, or just plain silliness. I'm not very good at keeping a diary, so this might become a wasteland. But I promise to try to add a blog a week.

Back to writing

Well, it's official. I am back at the writing thing.
I will be the first to admit that I am not expecting critical acclaim, the Pulitzer, or even to make any money at what I love- putting words down for others to read, consider, contemplate, and enjoy.
So, when a good friend asked me to become the Riverton correspondent for his new endeavor, The Mason County Press ezine, I couldn't help but accept.
The Mason County Press is a digital revival of an old, weekly newspaper with very limited distribution and not much success. I do think this will become popular with today's generation of Iphone-packing, PC readers, and I hope I can help it become a viable form of communication and information in our little corner of the world.
I submitted my first submission to the editor/owner today, and you will be able to read it soon (if he accepts it) on www.MasonCountyPress.com
I hope you enjoy it, and do apologize if my weekly obligations to the Press takes away from my blogs. As I said before, I am not a dedicated journal-keeper, but I will do my best.
So, there you go- my blog for today.

Monday Monday

A quiet Monday at work- still lots to do, but no emergencies or time-sensitive projects. I enjoy keeping busy at a regular, routine pace, for the most part.
But time sure can creep by on these quiet, dark and wintery days in Michigan. I try not to look at my clock or watch, but when I'm working on my computer, I can't help but see the time in the lower right corner of my screen.
Then I get to wondering why the cybergods decided that we needed to have those things, the time and the date, posted there. Was it a last-minute (excuse the pun) idea, or one that was the first programs for the computer genuises to write?
Anyway, I wish I could get thru a day by clicking on the clock and entering the time I want it to be, like 4:05 p.m., and then have it really become that time.
Yep, I definitely have too much time on my hands to be daydreaming like that. It'll change once Spring gets here and we start preparing for another busy season at the Village.
For now, though, I'll be thinking up some doozies... be ready.
So there  you go... my carmenations for today.

Winter's coming?

Well, here it comes- the BIG one. Forecast is for 6-8 inches of snow, cold, wind, etc.
Being a native Michigander, I am not phased by it, not full of anticipation or anxiety over a few days of being snowed in my little cottage in the country.
I do hope, for the local economy and just to quiet the news media down a little, that we do get accumulation Thursday night and Friday. Many snowplow companies in the area are beginning to be concerned with no work this past six weeks, and local businesses that depend on snowmobilers, ice fishermen, and snowshoers and skiers are worried, too.
As for me, when (and if) the white stuff starts piling up, I'll sit inside and knit and watch television, or maybe write on my new blog.
So- there you go- my first blog entry.
I hope you enjoy my reflections on life.
